The North American Handmade Bicycle Show was in Indianapolis this year, and I once again set up the studio. Black and white seamless backdrops, all the space in the world and some photo volunteers to help keep a schedule and bring builders back for photography. The goal: shoot at least one bike from each manufacturer and portraits of as many as possible. Mission accomplished. 4 days, 1450+ images, nearly 70 builders and some 100+ bikes. For the photo nerds; Nikon D700 w/ 99% of the images shot with 85mm Nikon 1.8 lens. ISO 200, 1/250, f9-11. Lights; two Alien Bees B400 lights at full power with 32in metallic umbrellas and Alien Bees ABR800 w/ grid ringflash at 1/64 – 1/8 power as fill.
